January: A Season of Rest, Reflection, and Renewal

January: A Season of Rest, Reflection, and Renewal

January arrives like a deep exhale—the quiet after the storm. The whirlwind of Christmas craft fairs is behind me: the epic production schedule, the long hours on the road, the intricate dance of setting up and breaking down booths, the endless stream of conversations, and the exhaustion of late nights fueled by less-than-ideal food choices. The choice is mine, but by the time the season wraps up, I feel every pot made in my bones.

And then—January. A month of recalibration. Mornings start slower, evenings settle earlier, and my days are filled with the soothing rhythm of planning, playing, and rebuilding stock. I sink into the comfort of home, relishing long dinners, good wine, and the joy of being  with my husband Bart and my dog Fid. My own bed has never felt so welcoming.

Best of all, I get to reclaim the simple pleasures—long winter walks that clear my mind and fill my lungs with crisp, cold air, the crunch of snow underfoot, the quiet hum of nature in its own season of rest. But even in this season of stillness, the work quietly continues. January is also the time for dreaming ahead—sorting through show applications, planning where my pottery will travel next, and envisioning new collections to bring to life.

This is the season of quiet creation, of filling the well, of embracing the stillness before the next adventure begins. And I love every minute of it.

To everyone who has supported my work—whether by purchasing a piece, visiting my studio or booth, sharing kind words, or simply following along on this journey—thank you. Your support means the world to me, and I can’t wait to create more for you in the year ahead.
